Atlantic Institute Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from www.atlanticinstitute.com (the “Site”).

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies, which are not storing personally identifiable information:

  •  “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier.  These cookies allow you to add things to a shopping cart and stay logged in to our site without having to fill out log in forms on every page of your checkout. The minimum amount of time we may allow for a cookie is 1 hour and the max amount of time we may allow for a cookie is one year. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
  • “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.  This information helps us understand what products are preferred, what devices our customers use most (helps us make your site experience better), and what times our customers are more apt to be on our site.
  • “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.  These offer us non-personal information much like our log files.
  • Comments/Reviews/social media shares – When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.  Additionally, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
We embed Facebook Comments and allow social media sharing to allow you to leave comment at our website using your Facebook account or share articles to your social media profiles. These plugins may collect your IP address, your web browser User Agent, store and retrieve cookies on your browser, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the commenting interface, including correlating your Facebook account with whatever action you take within the interface (such as “liking” someone’s comment, replying to other comments), if you are logged into Facebook. For more information about how this data may be used, please see Facebook’s data privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update.  For more information about how this may be used within Twitter, please see Twitter’s data privacy policy:  https://twitter.com/en/privacy#update.  Any lesser used social media platforms should also have such information available.  If you need help finding it, please contact us using the contact information at the end of this policy.
  • Media – If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
  • Embedded content from other websites (for instance, Youtube videos) – Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.  Additionally these websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment processor information (NOT including credit card numbers as those are not run through our site but through our providers:  Amazon Pay, PayPal, and Square) email address, and phone number.  We refer to this information as “Order Information.”
